Dental Implants
-
Purpose
Teeth loss due to carious or periodontal disease not only will affect esthetic, mastication and speech, in the long term it will lead to bone desorption, tilting of neighboring teeth, carious and periodontal disease.
There are many ways of restoring missing teeth, like bridges and removable dentures. Implants are becoming more and more popular now.
A dental implant is a biocompatible (titanium) structure implanted in the jawbone which is used to support false teeth, such as denture, bridge or crown.
Advantages
Does not need to prepare neighboring teeth.
Appearance and masticatory function is like a real tooth.
Brush and floss like natural teeth.
Prevent alveolar bone loss.
Prevent discomfort and inconvenience caused by removable dentures.

Standard Procedure of Implants
Surgery
The gum flap is raised and holes are drilled into the jawbone at the pre-determined positions and angulations. Then the dental implants are inserted into the holes and the gum flap is closed and held to the original position by sutures.
The jawbone will unite with the dental implants within 3 to 6 months.
At this time, the small piece of gum covering the dental implant will be removed and a healing component will be inserted onto the dental implants. This allows the gum to heal in a better shape around the dental implants.
False teeth fitting
When the gums around the dental implant have healed, dental impression will be taken. After 1 to 2 weeks, the false teeth (denture, crown or bridge) are fabricated and fixed onto the dental implants.
Alternative Method
The One-Stage Surgical procedure is done by placing the healing abutment onto the implant at the same time during the first surgery. It eliminates the need for a second surgery.

Case study: Standard Implant
Front teeth (aesthetic zone)
The near natural esthetics of front teeth implants is very difficult to achieve. With our experience and technique, we will give you a smile with confidence.
Immediate Implants
Immediate implant procedure is done by immediately inserting the implant into the socket right after an extraction.

Case Study: Complex Implant
Situation when amount of bone is not enough for implants
Teeth loss for long time will cause bone resorption causing inadequate height and width for implants. Dentist will do extra surgery to increase height and width of bone.
1. Bone augmentation
Bone augmentation is a term that describes a variety of procedures used to "build" bone so that dental implants can be placed. These procedures typically involve grafting (adding) bone or bonelike materials to the jaw. The graft can be your own bone or synthetic bone like material.
2. Ridge expansion
Ridge expansion is done when the width of bone is not enough. A special saw is used to split the ridge and pack graft material into the newly created space.

3. Sinus lift
When upper teeth are lost for long time, bone height below sinus will be inadequate, so before implants we will take a CT scan to determine bone height below sinus and if sinus lift is needed and which method should be used.
There are two methods in sinus lift:
Open sinus lift: A lateral window is opened in the maxillary sinus for bone graft. Usually need to wait for 6 months before placing implants.
Closed sinus lift: A segment of bone is separated and pushed into sinus at the site of the implant and bone graft is added to the site. Implants are placed at the same time.

Nobel guide 3D CAD/CAM technology
NobelGuides were created through the scientific efforts of biomedical engineers to assist reconstructive dentists in providing the best prediction factor for implant success for practically all types of tooth replacement needs. With the help of procera CAD/CAM technique, a 3D image is created after CT scan and simulate position and angulation of implants. The surgery is therefore safe and fast.
